Mayor Gail Barney proudly proclaimed Dec. 19-25 as Bulldog Week in Queen Creek at the Dec. 19 Town Council meeting. Citing their perfect 14-0 season, their capturing the State Division III Championship, and their sterling character and leadership on and off the field, the Mayor presented the Queen Creek High School football team members and coaching staff with a proclamation.

"Their prowess on the football field is certainly something to brag about," said Mayor Barney, "but even more important is their leadership off the field. These popular football heroes took it upon themselves to befriend a student who needed a caring circle of friends to surround her with love and acceptance. They embraced her with daily acts of kindness and showed her that she was worthy of love, respect and friendship. They put the Golden Rule into action."

Mayor Barney congratulated the team, their coaches and Queen Creek High School for their excellent season and being the first team to win the Division III Championship for Queen Creek. Their friendship with the student has garnered national attention and was mentioned by the Character Counts organization that promotes character and ethics in society.
